AirEx and Funded Projects
A question frequently asked by our clients is whether AirEx Floorvent qualifies for government funding such as the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) and the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG).
The answer is yes, although there has been some uncertainty in the pathway for innovations such as Floorvent to be eligible.
To help clarify this the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA) has published a Briefing Note “Incorporating innovative products in retrofit programmes” which is available from the SEA Website.
SEA Note Summary
In funded retrofit programmes, the efficacy and compliance of Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs) is managed through two key requirements: inclusion in SAP/RdSAP and the ability for installers to comply with PAS 2030 installation standards.
The SEA briefing note confirms that measures approved within SAP Appendix Q or PCDB are eligible for SHDF and HUG.
AIREX IN SAP AND RDSAP
AirEx Floorvent has been included in SAP/RdSAP since 2022 and its impact can be assessed using the Appendix Q database.
For a guide on how to use Appendix Q with RdSAP please take a look at our guide and video below.
PAS Compliance
PAS 2030 dictates the standards for energy efficiency installers and all EEMs must be lodged with TrustMark to verify compliance with the standards. TrustMark have clarified that they only certify installers, not products.
For innovative measures, there can be uncertainty as to which PAS 2030 measure type is most appropriate for a given product. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has provided further clarity that it is the role of retrofit professionals (such as Retrofit Coordinators and certified Installers) to determine how this is best achieved, subject to the other requirements of the TrustMark framework.
SEA Briefing note Conclusion
AirEx Floorvent is both included in SAP and can be installed compliantly with PAS2030 so is an eligible measure for SHDF and HUG projects. A number of our installer partners are already installing AirEx Floorvent in funded projects.
