Compliance

We understand that our customers want to ensure the highest standards in their work and recognise the importance of achieving compliance with industry standards for quality and customer protection. We have created this guide to highlight how our products enable our customers to meet building regulations, standards and the requirements of funded retrofit programmes.

Funded Projects

AirEx Floorvent qualifies as an Energy Efficiency Measure (EEM) for government funding like the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) and the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG).

To clarify the eligibility of new products like AirEx, the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA) published a Briefing Note on the route to compliance. In funded retrofit programmes, the efficacy and compliance of Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs) are managed through two key requirements: inclusion in SAP/RdSAP and the ability for installers to comply with PAS 2030 installation standards. AirEx has been included in SAP/RdSAP since 2022 and compliance with PAS 2030 installation standards has been demonstrated. Many of our partners are already using AirEx in funded projects.

SAP/RdSAP

AirEx Floorvent has been included in SAP/RdSAP since 2022 and its impact can be assessed using the Appendix Q database. Installing AirEx Floorvent can improve the EPC rating of a property by 2-4 SAP points, validated by the BRE and Ofgem and confirmed by our customers.

For support on how to use Appendix Q within an  RdSAP calculation please take a look at our guide.

BBA certification

AirEx Floorvent has received the BBA certification, which marks a significant step forward in our mission to end fuel poverty. Our products are now 100% eligible for government-funded fuel poverty schemes such as SHDF and HUG, meaning our products will be installed to improve the energy efficiency of homes across the nation.

PAS Compliance

As an Energy Efficiency Measure included in SAP/RdSAP, AirEx Floorvent can be included in a PAS2035 whole house retrofit program. For Retrofit Coordinators, Designers and Assessors, our guide on modelling and assessing AirEX Floorvent in RdSAP, via Appendix Q, may be helpful.

For installations to be compliant PAS 2030 dictates the standards for energy efficiency installers and all EEMs must be lodged with TrustMark installers and all EEM measures must be installed in line with PAS2030 and have appropriate guarantees in place to meet the requirements of the TrustMark framework to verify compliance with the standards. TrustMark has clarified that they only certify installers, not products.

For innovative measures, there can be uncertainty about which PAS 2030 measure type is most appropriate for a given product. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has provided further clarity that it is the role of retrofit professionals (such as Retrofit Coordinators and accredited certified Installers) to determine how this is best achieved, subject to the other requirements of the TrustMark framework.

Contact us to discuss this and we can put you in touch with some of our partners who have successfully installed and lodged AirEx Floorvent installations.

Suitable guarantee products are available and the IAA has recently announced a dedicated guarantee product including AirEx. We are working with other guarantee providers and TrustMark scheme providers to ensure a range of insurance and accreditation products are available to our customers.

Building Regulations

AirEx Floorvent meets Part C requirements for ventilating suspended timber floors, with each brick providing an equivalent ventilation area of 4315 mm2, roughly three times more than a traditional single air brick. Our smart system optimises ventilation to reduce heat loss while preventing dampness. In addition, the system also monitors underfloor conditions to identify properties at damp & mould risk. For a detailed analysis of regulations and installation guidance explore our comprehensive guide.

Sometimes insulation is not always suitable for suspended floors due to high moisture levels, disruption to residents, high costs or unsuitable floorboards. Including AirEx in your spec means you can always treat cold draughts caused by suspended timber floors in a low-cost, yet effective way. Benefits include:

  • 2-6 SAP points

  • 1 hour, non-disruptive install

  • Low cost/SAP point solution

  • Reduced fuel costs

  • Happy residents
