Airex a winner of 2023 Sustainable Innovations Competition

Airex has been announced as one of five winners of the 2023 Sustainable Innovations Competition. A unique partnership between Lloyds Banking Group and Wates Group, the competition champions emerging green tech innovators and low carbon SMEs across the UK.

Success in the competition will see Airex’s technology explored for a potential pilot by Lloyds Banking Group, as part of its ambition to reach Net Zero carbon operations by 2030. Winning organisations also join a host of Innovation Partners that form the Wates Innovation Network (WIN) Portal, a first-of-its-kind network of market-leading sustainable technologies and services that will enable the decarbonisation of the UK’s built environment.

Richard Kemp-Harper, Chief Commercial Officer of Airex commented: “We’re delighted to have been successful in the Sustainability Innovations Competition!

Not only are we excited to launch the pilot schemes of our smart air brick technology within Lloyds Banking Group’s buildings, but the feedback from experts throughout the competition process really helped us refine our value proposition.”

Daniel Coakley, Sustainability Manager of Lloyds Banking Group commented: “It’s been amazing to see the quality and number of applicants we’ve had for this year’s competition. It’s testament to the innovation we’re seeing across the UK, as companies develop impactful green technology solutions.”

Dr Zainab Dangana, Head of Sustainable Technology Services at Wates commented: “Our partnership with Lloyds Banking Group has been really powerful in providing a clear path for SMEs to help grow the sustainability sector. We shortlisted 19 exceptional applicants, and selecting the winners and finalists has been very difficult for the panel, which is an encouraging sign that new innovations are continually emerging.

All submissions for the competition have been subject to an intensive screening process, and assessment criteria to ensure competitiveness, credibility, scalability, impact, and innovation. A panel of experts from Lloyds Banking Group, Wates and supply-chain partners have provided scoring and feedback to participants to ensure all value and transparency for all.”
